Care Partner

Clients of Abode Independence Home Care live in the South Metro Atlanta counties of South Fulton, Henry, Clayton, and Fayette. Applicants must have a reliable vehicle with insurance for this position due to the amount of driving that will take place.

What is a Care Partner?
Care Partner – a personal care aide who has been trained in how to support and preserve their older adult Clients’ independence through companionship, empathy, effective communication, and basic care knowledge. Care Partners are the heartbeat of Abode Independence.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
Companionship (in all parts of care):

Clients will not be a personal friend, but the companionship component of care being provide by Care Partners mirrors many components of a friendship, like using communication to discover similar interests. Also, mutual respect, confidentiality, shared humor, validation, and emotional support are all components of a friendship Care Partners will utilize during care companionship.

Assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs): basic self-care tasks such as eating, bathing, toileting, washing or dressing.

​

Assistance with instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs): actions that require some intellectual competence planning. Includes shopping for personal items, housekeeping, meal preparation, errand running, paying bills, pet care, making telephone calls, and medication reminders.

 

Care Partner Requirements and Qualifications

 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • Mastery of the English language, written and verbal

  • Valid driver’s license, reliable automobile, and current auto insurance required

  • Smart phone with data plan required (Clients' service reports will be submitted after each home visit via Smart phone)

  • Negative TB and Covid-19 tests required

  • Physical ability to lift heavy objects, help move Clients, and perform physical tasks required.

  • Physical endurance for daily household chores and bodily care of multiple Clients required

  • Warm and caring personality required

  • Willingness to support Clients emotionally required  

  • Willingness to be trained and coached for duration of employment required

  • Current certificate in First Aid and CPR preferred

  • Covid-19 vaccinated preferred 

  • Significant experience working in a home care environment is strongly preferred

  • Experience in domestic work, housekeeping, and/or informal (family) caregiving is a plus

  • Good communication and conversational skills

  • Patient and ability to remain calm in stressful situations

  • Prompt and reliable

  • Detailed-orientated

  • Self-disciplined and consistent work ethic

  • Commitment to treating Clients with dignity and respect

  • Willingness to comply with all legal and agency requirements and guidelines

  • Willingness to walk, feed, and/or bathe cats and/or dogs
